Happy birthday, Dairy Queen Blizzard! Did you know that Dairy Queen Blizzard is 25 years ago? I remember the day when the DQ Blizzard Frozen Treat was released to the public. This makes me a bit 'old! But I have great memories of those days, and I remember the excitement all feel if they were now on the road for their first DQ Blizzard. The week of Blizzard debuted, some parents snowstorms brought to school for their children at noonTime, while the rest of us watched with envy and disappointment that our parents brought us Blizzard. Today in 2010, it is difficult to imagine in 1985 the advertising campaign on Blizzard, but maybe the sales figures in perspective, things in: 1985 Dairy Queen Blizzard Treats sold 100 million. That's right, 100 million €.
Blizzard is the greatest achievement in the history of Dairy Queen. What makes them so successful? Well, it was the firsta soft mix ice cream with chopped chocolate or chocolate bars, biscuits, dried fruit or fruit treat. Today, all fast-food chain is sort of generic version of Blizzard, but in 1985 this was a no. Dairy Queen was the innovator. Another reason is that Dairy Queen is always working to make available a wide range of tastes. Over the years more than 75 flavors have been released by Blizzard. Some of them are very popular staple foods such as OreoCookie, M & Ms, Butterfinger and, and others are seasonal, like a pumpkin flavor is released around the time of Halloween, and some are innovative and experimental and that it is firmly established as they are popular with customers.
