What is important to Ethiopia?

On a recent trip to Ethiopia, I have formed some strong impressions of the country. It is in many ways a remarkable place.

What is important is that Ethiopia is a strong feeling that this is the home of a man (woman sic). Visiting Lucia, where she is accepted at the National Museum in Addis Adaba, the oldest human remains and as the missing link was a moving moment and impressive. She was a beautiful sight in one room, as they appeared in the mud of the Rift ValleyPlan. A few days later he was on the crest of the Rift Valley in search of a huge expanse of uninhabited forest valley, a deep connection for me, both in space and time to detect forgeries, that the evolution of humanity has produced, and that I Seeking a wider world that all the ancestors of Lucy's place, and his brothers and sisters and all their descendants, we are where we are now out.

Visit the tribes in the Rift Valley was like walking into a time warp. The hammer, Oromo, Bani, and Mursi tribes of Kanso live a simple life, almost no different from those of prehistoric man. Not only have gas, electricity, water or candles, living virtually without modern equipment or tools. They herd goats and cows as a sign of status, but small farm plots with a hand-carved wooden plow behind two oxen. Walking into one of their villages is like a living museum. Visit with them, their bodies marked with elaborateDepartment of butter and red clay, masses of pearls and brass and copper, tattoos and body marks, and in some cases, flat lip was made very attractive. It 'been a remarkable experience to observe only, they live their everyday life with its sleek black body so fantastically decorated.

What is important to Ethiopia?

If ever a Garden of Eden, it should be here in the green valley of Ethiopia, where Lucy was buried 3.2 million years old have been found. The roads are cut through the valleyaligned with the apple of Adam and Eve toxic wild!

What is important about this is that Ethiopia is a nation deeply Christian. What is the official religion of the country, one of only two countries that are known to do this, Christianity is a daily part of life here. E 'in your face like no other country I've ever visited. Although there is a population of 30% of Muslims have been affected to the major city of the Christians. Small pockets of Muslims are found in various parts of the countrybut they are essentially invisible in the major cities and towns. The churches are crowded here every day of the week. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church dominates and the patriarch is resident in Addis despite the fact that Axum is one of the holiest churches in Christendom. There is a strict observance of Lent and the weeks that I visitid, Surga the 55 days of fasting, which begins on Palm Sunday and ends the call Easter Sunday. Fasting is religious, and have restaurants and suggestions, ifavailable where I lay, offered only on an empty stomach, without menus or dairy products with meat.

A week in the north to visit the commonly referred to as the historical route, was an immersion into a unique form of Christianity and of a house as a surprise to many, largely ignored in Western civilization. In Bayar Dal, after visiting the upper reaches of the Blue Nile and the largest waterfall in Ethiopia, I took a boat trip on Lake Tana, where more than 20 monasteries in the 13th Centurystill flourish, each with its own circular thatched church complex housing paintings of biblical events. I was not too keen on another tour of high church all the way to Lalibela Ethiopian plateau, but I went bravely on their way. I was wrong. As one author wrote, "would be practically everywhere, but in Ethiopia, Lalibela is rightly regarded as one of the wonders of the world, easily identified as the pyramids and the Sphinx in Egypt celebrated. Why? This was Petra AfricanCarved into volcanic rock in 700 AD. 11 churches have been in the rock off the floor and employs 40 000 Masonic craftsmen to carve out all these churches carved in 10 years. Everyone said it could not be achieved without the hand of God In the words of one of these 30 feet underground churches simply takes your breath away. These churches are cognescenti regarded as some of the most important pilgrimage sites in Christendom and recognized as a UNESCOWorld Heritage Site. You are amazing and mock all description. As in the 16th century Portuguese travelers could describe, "he wrote," because it seems to me that I would never have believed it if I write more. "The same is true for I.

What is also important about Ethiopia is its fascinating nature and pervasive biblical. The myths and legends of the Queen of Sheba, King Solomon, Adam and Eve, and Prester John penetrate the daily life of the country. The Ark plays a dominant roleis in the mythology and rituals of the Orthodox Christian life. This ark was probably built by the sons of Israel, holding the tablets of the Law to Moses by God, it is considered that in a historic church Maryam Tsion be housed in Axum. I have visited.

What is also important about Ethiopia is that it is profoundly African. It 'the only country in Africa that has never been colonized. I was on a ridge where a level of Adwa in 1896, Italy has sought to colonize the country andthe battle of Adwa. After weeks of inactivity of the Italian king ordered his generals to move around and do the job. They were so strong that they fought to leave the country humiliated. This is the whole of Africa as the first time that Africans defeated a European power in the battle of importance. Italy under Mussolini tried to Ethiopia is involved and in 1936 he held parts of the country almost five years during which it is addressed, but it was strongly suppressed by the Ethiopianwith the support of England, and withdrew. Haile Selassie, in spite of many abuses and corruption was to blame, a progressive leader, of a society that urges the support of all religions and ethnicities, and is currently used by many Africans as one of the greatest leaders in modern Africa. It is a tradition, a mythology, a nation rich in history, free from foreign occupation or colonization.

So, what to me is the most important thing about Ethiopia is that they are the hope of Africa. Despite itsenormous problems as one of the poorest countries in the world and is still facing a massive famine is yet another model of democracy, an economy independent of a country which has always maintained its independence and has a long history as a proud nation and reaches a diverse population and an amazing story of many cultures and notable works of art, the stun!

These churches are cognescenti considered among the most important pilgrimage sites in Christendom and is recognized as UNESCOWorld Heritage Site.

They were so deep that they hit out of the country afflicted. This is the whole of Africa as the first time that Africans defeated a European power in the battle of importance. Italy under Mussolini tried to Ethiopia is involved and in 1936 he held parts of the country almost five years during which it is addressed, but was strongly suppressed by the Ethiopians, with the support of England, and withdrew. Haile Selassie, in spite of many abuses and corruption was to blame, a progressive leader, of a society that urges the support of all religions and ethnicities, and is currently used by many Africans as one of the greatest leaders in modern Africa. It is a tradition, a myth, a nation rich in history, free from foreign occupation or colonization.
